February 2026 Choice
FEBRUARY CHOICE | JANUARY WRAP-UP
General Manager Update – Djamel Khali
We recently had our FCA Annual Meeting in the Amana Colonies. Keni Thomas was our keynote speaker. He was one of the actual Rangers that fought in the Battle of Mogadishu, which was later made into the move “Black Hawk Down”. During the annual meeting we elected Kevin Luers, Bryan Bayliss, and Kevin Adrian onto the board. We would like to thank Jeff Hinnah for his many contributions to the FCA Board and wish him well in the future. He helped our cooperative through many challenging years. Your board and management are working together to ensure that we are creating long-term opportunities for ALL FCA/Vision Ag locations and members through what many in our industry are calling an “Inflection point”. Fertilizer markets continue to move upward with the increased demand of LP in the US and works markets adjusting to the many political changes going on in the world. We are positioned well and have had strong engagement during prepay. I hope you are all staying warm and safe this winter. Thank you for your trust in us!
Sigourney Vision Ag Manager – Avery Moore
As February rolls in, it’s hard to believe how quickly winter is slipping by. Lime is going out when the weather is fit, but fighting freezing temperatures has been the factor lately. Prepay season is wrapping up, and before we know it, spring fieldwork will be knocking at the door. The decisions made now will set the tone for a smooth and successful planting season. Spring anhydrous will be here fast, and finalizing plans early helps avoid last-minute crunches when conditions turn fit. Lining up your nitrogen needs, stabilizer options, and application timing now can make a big difference once the weather opens. With fertilizer demand ramping up quickly in early spring, having acres, products, and logistics dialed ahead of time helps keep everything moving efficiently when the window opens. If you haven’t wrapped up prepay or finalized your spring plans yet, now is a great time to touch base. A little preparation in February can go a long way toward keeping spring work timely, efficient, and stress-free. Our team in Sigourney wishes you a safe rest of the winter, and we are excited to serve you this upcoming crop season!
Refined Fuels Department Update – Jeff Bermel
Don’t forget that this is the last month of our bulk oil sale ending February 28th! Now is the best time of the year to get bulk oil tanks filled. For every 100 gallons of bulk oil, you purchase, you will receive a $50.00 gift card from Cenex. For all of your fuel or lubricant needs, contact Jason in Stockport at (641)455-4781, Bob in Douds at (641)919-4900, or myself in Keota at (319)461-6170. Thank you for your business and continued support!
Grain Department Update – Sarah Hora
Last month, corn and soybean prices moved lower following the release of the January WASDE report. By the close, corn futures were down 23.5 cents, and soybeans futures were 13 cents lower. Soybean yields were unchanged, with only minor acreage adjustments. The key driver for soybeans was a 60-million-bushel reduction in export estimates. Corn saw a larger impact, as harvested acreage increased by 1.3 million, moving total production estimates to 17.0 billion bushels. Although corn usage was raised by 90 million bushels, the increase wasn’t enough to offset higher production. With increased supply pressure keeping markets lower, this may be the time to review pricing strategies and risk management. Producers looking to make sales or get some new crop offers in, feel free to contact Sarah in Ainsworth at 319-657-2911.
Keota Feed Update – Jeff Sprouse
With the start of February, I hope everyone is having an excellent start to the New Year. With the start of the New Year, we have kicked off our 2026 Mineral Booking Program. The Program is now running until March 31st, 2026. We again are offering John Deere Financial with 0% interest financing through September 30th, 2026 on Purina Wind & Rain Loose Mineral and Purina Wind & Rain Tub Mineral, subject to credit approval. Another available option we have, is our CFA in house financing. We are offering a $140/ton discount on Purina Mineral when using cash/JDF financing for mineral ordered and paid for with cash or financing from 1-29-26 thru 3-31 26. If you are not interested in the cash/financing option, we can still lock your price in against rising costs during the promotion time of 1-29-26 through 3-31-26. Dr. Chris Ashworth mentioned the many benefits to staying on a mineral program 365 days per year. He asked, “What day does your truck not use oil? That would be the same day your cows would not need mineral!” Stop in at any of our locations for more information. Attention Sheep and Goat producers, FCA has Honor Show Chow Lamb & Goat 15 DX creep on hand for your creep needs! Thank you for your business.
Precision Ag Update – Jordan Tackett
Winter came early this season with wind and snow, slowing down the sampling crews a bit, but the warmer weather last month really helped them get caught up! So, if you haven’t talked to your agronomist about getting soil sampling done, there is still time before spring arrives. Taking good soil samples is key to a successful nutrient plan in each field so we can figure out the best way to help you manage your inputs. This time of year, I start gearing up for spring…last minute soil samples, boundary edits and adjustments for better sprayer accuracy, and working with customers that are trying variable rate planting this year. I mention this every year, but variable rating your seed populations across the field ensures that each area of the field is being planted with the correct population for the highest yield potential. If interested, we can show you how we can help you make better decisions with our technology programs!
Broadway Service Center Update – Dave Hyman
Nobody wants to get let down by poor quality rubber! Now would be a great time to start looking at your tires and getting ready for spring. You may not realize it, but decent tread depth does not mean your tire is good. Other things to look for are stubble wear, weather cracking, and the age of the tire. The annual Firestone Spring into Savings promotion will run from February 1st through April 30th. During this promotion, customers who purchase 2 or more qualifying Firestone AG Radial Tires will be eligible for an instant discount. Broadway Service Center would be more than happy to come to your farm and look at your tires with you. Call us at 641-636-3438 and set up a time. Thank you for your continued business and stay safe on the roads.
Thank you for your continued business!
